Thyme protects the mucosa and has an antibacterial effect – so it helps to get rid of pathogenic microorganisms inhabiting the throat. Sage also disinfects the throat and has anti-inflammatory properties, while marshmallow moisturizes the mucosa, protects the larynx and vocal cords.

Another way to deal with a sore throat of our mothers and grandmothers is to use a mixture of linseed. The best gruel is obtained by boiling the seeds for about 15 minutes on very low heat in the proportion of 1 teaspoon of seeds to 1 glass of water. The seed reduces dryness and the feeling of a scratchy throat, has anti-inflammatory and astringent properties and protects the throat mucosa.
