How to Brighten Dull Skin?

Your skin is pale and sallow and you're looking to give it a healthy tone? Here are some of our tips to make your dull complexion naturally brighter and smoother!

Dull Skin - Causes

There are many reasons for a dull face. A grey complexion can result from hypoxia, vitamin deficiency, exhaustion, stress, or lack of access to the sun. Poor skin condition generally results from an unhealthy lifestyle. It can be caused by many elements, often beyond our control, such as air pollution.

The causes of grey skin include:

  • Hormones - hormonal changes that occur during puberty, pregnancy or stressful situations can also affect the appearance of disorders of the natural skin colour. In stressful situations, the body secretes large amounts of adrenaline and cortisol, which direct blood to, for example, the lungs and heart. Prolonged exposure to stressful situations causes a problem with the blood supply to the skin tissues and their oxygenation. This in turn translates into an unfavourable grey complexion.
  • Air pollution - toxins from the air promote free radicals and accelerate the ageing process. The skin wears out faster, turns grey, sags - it is simply tired.
  • Skincare - lack of skincare or the wrong choice of cosmetics also affects the appearance of the skin.
  • Diet - a deficiency of vitamins B6, A, C, folic acid, copper or iron can cause a sallow skin colour.
  • Moisture - dehydration causes the skin to become thin, flabby, lose its natural colour.

How to Get a Glowing Complexion?

A beautiful complexion is not just the result of endless skincare products. It results from proper care, regularity and providing the skin with the right vitamins and minerals.

Skincare for Dull Skin

Skin care for dull complexions should consist of the following steps:

  • Cleansing - this is the first step of the skincare ritual. It is the basis and the most effective method of removing impurities. Thorough cleansing of the facial skin is a guarantee for the effective action of cosmetics, which are used in subsequent stages.
  • Exfoliation - thanks to exfoliating treatments, our complexion becomes smoother and brighter with an even skin tone.
  • Facial skin brushing - massage with a natural bristle facial massage brush is an alternative to the exfoliation mentioned above. Regular brushing will also bring out the glow, stimulate circulation, and prepare the skin to absorb skin care cosmetics better.
  • Moisturising - a well-chosen moisturiser will restore healthy, fresh-looking skin, firmness and help reduce wrinkles. It is also worth remembering to hydrate your skin from the inside daily (by drinking 2 litres of water a day).

Supplements for Dull Complexion

To enjoy beautiful and, above all, healthy-looking skin, it is advisable to combine a skincare regime appropriate to your skin's needs with a proper diet rich in vitamins that benefit your complexion.
The diet for a beautiful complexion should be enriched with vitamins that are soluble in fats, such as vitamins A,D,E, and K, and vitamins that are insoluble in fats, such as vitamins C and B.

It is also worth remembering to supplement with collagen. Regular supplementation with this protein strengthens the skin. It makes wrinkles less visible, and the skin becomes smooth without discolouration.
